Extending Your ED Visa

Once it gets close to the end of your first 90 days, you will be required to extend your ED visa at the Immigration office.

The fee per extension is 1,900 Thai baht.

For a 4-month Thai course: First 90 days + 1 visa extension (30* days)

For a 9-month Thai course: First 90 days + 4 visa extensions (30* days + 60 days + 60 days + 30* days)

For a 5-month Japanese course: First 90 days + 2 visa extensions (60 days + 20* days)

For a 5-month Japanese course: First 90 days + 5 visa extensions (60 days + 20* days + 60 days + 60 days + 30* days)

Be ready for a quick quiz in Thai from the immigration officer. Don’t worry though, the questions are usually simple, such as “What is your name?”, “Where are you from?”, “What do you like to eat?”, and similar basic questions.

If you’ve been paying attention in your Thai lessons, you’ll find it easy to answer.

Once the officer sees that you have a basic understanding of Thai, they will likely approve your extension request.
